IHSW June report

This IHSW I worked mainly on Avarice, but a little on Wiz too.

There is a  battle for computer supremacy over the weekend here and seeing as the weather hasn't been all that great the girls have spent their time indoors. Unfortunately my pattern for Wiz is on USB storage rather than hard copy so I can't stitch it up as much as I wanted. Anyway.

I finished page 7 on Avarice! Yippee!!!

This was very confetti heavy so I am looking forward to page 8 which is mainly block stitching. Some confetti comes back after that though with dress detail coming in.

But that was not the last of her this weekend... I got in a good 700 stitches on page 8 too.

I did those in around 3 hours. Very fast! Lots of black on it. I am really going to enjoy this page!!

And Wiz? Well. Lookiee here! Wiz is looking AMAZING. The lion has suddenly jumped out and Dorothy's face is starting to come in now.

I am rather enjoying the change into cross country stitching with this rather than the block work of Avarice.

A Review for Yiota!

Look what arrived on my doorstep! More stash....

A lovely kit of The Parthenon from Yiota's XStitch!

I am quite looking forward to stitching this one. The kit has Evenweave fabric (available on request) and lots of lovely Madeira threads all wound onto bobbins - and on the chart key there is a handy conversion to DMC so if you choose to restitch the kit and cannot find Madeira threads you won't be stumped. I don't think I have ever stitched with Madeira threads so its going to be a new thing for me.

Love the chart. Clear symbols - reminds me of Heritage kits. Excellent fabric quality too. Love that you can choose kit, fabric and only pattern if you prefer.

I spent quite a while browsing the site before I picked this kit. There is lots to see on there. Even Hubby got stuck in telling me which he liked although he dosen't stitch himself.

Further stitchy update soon - I actually did some! I shut my Facebook account for the time being and have been sorting the rest of the house but I have managed to spend time stitching in the evening if only for an hour :)

Heaven and Earth storykeep

I have started this finally! It's a flower bride. After a couple of days work there's about 1000 stitches done.
I am stitching this on 28 count evenweave in half cross stitch one strand over one strand so its very small! I can only do a small amount at a time it I get eye strain so this is definitely a slowly slowly one!

Gridding

I am getting ready for another start. This is 10x10 gridding on evenweave in an oatmeal colour.
I am hoping this is going to serve for 2 projects, a HAED Storykeep of a bride and an orchid cushion front by the late Sheila Hudson.
Gridding is important when doing a large design as it can help you keep control of where you are on your chart in relation to your work. To be honest I rarely grid, but seeing as I am tackling some larger projects now then it makes sense.
Last night I didn't have the inclination to do any more on the New York Skyline piece, but I didn't want to waste the evening hence sitting for a couple of hours doing this.
